Because a stroke causes brain damage, it must be diagnosed and treated right away. If you think you or someone else is having a stroke, call 911 right away. At the hospital doctors and nurses will ask you questions and use imaging tests to figure out what kind of stroke you're having and where it's located. Then, they will give you medicine or do surgery to treat the stroke and help you recover.
