Permanent or flexible spaces can be created in main office buildings using small offices, storage areas, or other small spaces. Mobile options, such as portable lactation spaces, can accommodate women who work in the field. Companies can also partner with businesses along an employee's transportation route to accommodate nursing mothers who travel as part of their job.
Warehousing firms often have large spaces that can accommodate a small milk expression space by enclosing a corner or other area with partitions or screens. Employers will want to examine the employee's typical work schedule, available space, and options that will help employees feel relaxed and comfortable.
A California ferry service provides private space to express milk in the captain's office on each of their four boats. Space is also available in the port office.
