Center Highlights:

Collage of different womenMariposa Community Center of Excellence in Women's Health educates the community on women's health issues, increases leadership and learning opportunities for women, and empowers them to be proactive and informed in regards to health and well being by strengthening existing medical and social services programs.

The Mariposa CCOE offers support services such as radiology, mammography, sonography, lab testing, pharmacy, dentistry, as well as educational programs through the Platicamos Salud Division which provides education in nutrition, diabetes, cancer prevention, HIV/AIDS, Maternal/Child Health, KidsCare, Tobacco Cessation, and others.

"Reduce the fragmentation of services and access barriers that women encounter using a framework that coordinates and integrates comprehensive health services with research, training, education, and leadership activities in the community is a major goal of the National Community Centers of Excellence in Women's Health Program."

The CCOE enrollment process consists of an interview with the Women's Health Specialist, where intake information is collected, the CCOE program is explained and a monthly schedule of empowerment classes and provider talks are distributed. These empowerment classes are the gateway for women to participate in the Mariposa CCOE program. Once data has been collected and women enrolled in the classes, the Women's Health Specialist Case Monitor extracts data from the CCOE's client's medical chart and this data is used to schedule the appropriate health maintenance visits for the woman participant. This tool helps women to become more proactive about their health maintenance.
