"National Women's Health Leadership Summit"

Women's health officials from all 50 states and the U.S. territories will join federal leaders in Washington, D.C., for the first National Women's Health Leadership Summit, hosted by the U.S. Public Health Service's Office on Women's Health and the deputy assistant secretary for women's health, Susan Blumenthal, M.D., M.P.A.

The Summit is designed to increase the focus on women's health and to foster the development of innovative health programs for women across the country. It will focus on stimulating partnerships and building women's health programs at the regional and state levels, including the establishment of state offices for women's health. Currently, only five states have women's health offices -- California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York and Ohio. The Summit will also provide an opportunity for federal and regional women's health experts to share perspectives and to focus on several critical health concerns affecting women today.

The Summit will culminate with the development of strategies to improve women's health programs and policies for women living in all states and the U.S. territories.
