Womenshealth.gov and girlshealth.gov are free services of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. They provide reliable, accurate, commercial-free information on the health of women and girls.These Web sites cover more than 800 topics, on issues ranging from adolescent health to reproductive health to older women's health.

You can access these resources through a toll-free telephone call or through the Internet. They offer an information referral center with experienced information and referral specialists answering your calls in English or Spanish. Call 1-800-994-9662 Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm EST. For individuals who are hearing impaired, call TDD at 1-888-220-5446. Their two comprehensive health Web sites are available online at http://www.womenshealth.gov and http://www.girlshealth.gov. They also provide the National Breastfeeding Helpline with trained peer counselors ready to answer your basic breastfeeding questions.

Regardless of the way you use their services, you'll get:

Womenshealth.gov and girlshealth.gov are sponsored by the federal government with your tax dollars. They don't represent any special commercial interests. They don't allow advertisements on their site. They don't try to sell you products, magazines, or anything else. They screen all health information for accuracy before it ever appears on their Web sites or in their publications. Their information and referral specialists are trained to help you, whether it's referring you to the right organization, mailing you free information, or even coaching new moms on how to breastfeed their infants. Womenshealth.gov and girlshealth.gov exist to help you and your loved ones get the reliable and accurate health information you need to get, or stay, healthy.
