Diabetes is a condition that causes high levels of glucose in the blood. Glucose is a sugar that is the body's main source of fuel. In the past, women with diabetes were advised not to become pregnant because of the health risks to both mother and baby were very high. Today, because of better prenatal care, most women with diabetes can have a successful pregnancy and a healthy baby.
