Mission Statement

The Dysautomia Foundation was founded in 1951 by parents of afflicted children to raise funds to support research to find means of controlling and curing familial dysautonomia, and to provide information on the disease to families, the lay population, and medical professionals. Families dysautomia (Riley-Day syndrome) is a rare genetic disease primarily afflicting Jewish children of Ashkenazi or Eastern European heritage. A malfunction of the autonomic nervous system, it poses severe physical, emotional, and social problems for the afflicted patients.
