Mission Statement

It is the mission of the National Down Syndrome Congress to be the national advocacy organization for Down syndrome and to provide leadership in all areas of concern related to persons with Down syndrome. In that capacity, NDSC will function as a major source of support and empowerment to persons with Down syndrome and their families. The NDSC shall be the national voice for state and local groups, individual members, persons with Down syndrome, and all other interested persons. It serves as the clearinghouse on Down syndrome by collecting, creating, and disseminating information via the functions of the National Down Syndrome Congress Center, the annual convention, and the Down Syndrome News. These activities shall be devoted to the achievement of positive national attitudes regarding Down syndrome. This organization shall operate according to a comprehensive plan and will utilize a committee structure to implement its principal objectives. It shall be a proactive and responsive leadership body accessible to all persons.
